Fretsy is a practice randomizer for guitarists. It generates random combinations of keys, scales, modes, arpeggios, and root strings so you always have something fresh to work on, plus a set of common chord progressions to play along with. It's built for the woodshed — a way to break out of practicing the same three shapes and keep your ear and fingers moving.

How it works

• Pick what you want to practice — scales/modes, arpeggios, or a mix — and which difficulty tiers and root strings to draw from.
• Tap for a random combination, hear it played back on a real guitar sample, and see it on the fretboard.
• Work through chord progressions in any key with an adjustable tempo.

The mobile app runs entirely on your device. Everything it needs — the audio, the scales, the progressions — is bundled inside the app, so it works with no internet connection at all.

Privacy

Data Not Collected. Fretsy has no accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics or tracking. It does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. Your practice settings are stored only on your own device.

A note on accuracy

Fretsy is an educational practice aid, provided as-is and without warranty. Music theory has many conventions and enharmonic spellings; treat the suggestions as prompts for practice, not as authoritative notation.
